Ebenezer Cottage is situated in Sutton Poyntz, Dorset,which lies in a horseshoe of hills, along which runs the South West Dorset Coastal Path. Wonderful
walks directly from Ebenezer Cottage with access to The
Springhead public house and restaurant is situated beside the millpond,
serving home cooked food An Italian restaurant and pizzeria are within walking distance. We
have a shop and post office within half a mile. There is a regular bus service from village to Weymouth town. Sutton Poyntz was the Overcombe of Thomas Hardy's novel The Trumpet Major, with the mill and mill house as the main setting. Hardy's cottage is nearby in the village of Lower Bockhampton. Just a little further away: With its elegant Georgian seafront, wide promenade and delightfully picturesque old harbour the seaside town of Weymouth is at the heart of the World Heritage Coast. There is a wide choice of restaurants and eating establishments. The golden sweeping beach is approximately 1.5km long. The bay is sheltered and swimmers and other water users benefit from the gradually sloping seabed giving shallow inshore waters. There
are many other unspoilt beaches and idyllic secluded coves within easy reach including
the famous Chesil beach,
Ringstead Bay, Lulworth
Cove, Durdle Door, West Bay, Golden
Cap near Seatown and Horse riding, golf, sailing, windsurfing and jet ski are available within five mile radius. Dorchester, a County town with traditional Wednesday market, smart Borough Gardens with great playgrounds, summer paddling pool and host to open air events througout the year.
